Ellenborough Market Café paints a picturesque setting along the banks of Singapore River with its revamped interior. Divided into three main areas, a lilac mezzanine furbished with stained glass, a spacious main dining area painted in white, accented with a vibrant turquoise, and fitted with diamond-cut glass to let natural sunlight in and a Cape Cod dining area with show kitchen and buffet lines, diners are in for a visual treat and relaxing atmosphere. This, combined with Ellenborough Market Café’s enhanced carte de jour and their delectable signature Peranakan International cuisines with a modern flair, will surely guarantee a top-notch and a whole new level of dining experience.
With the newly appointed Executive Chef Louis Tay at the frontline, Ellenborough Market Cafe amped up the stakes to bring out only the best and most sumptuous of feasts with the new additions in their menu. Singaporeans with their love for international cuisines will delight in the new Carving station that offers succulent Roast Beef and Rack of Lambs. Chef Louis Tay’s European-influence is also evident with the addition of carefully crafted European cuisines guaranteed to satisfy palates and satiate stomachs. Ellenborough’s live stations are also something worthy of mention especially the acclaimed La Mian station that offers a theatrical show of a master chef skilfully flinging and tossing dough and creating the perfect noodle base to complement the restaurant’s famed Braised Pork Belly La Mian.
The main highlight of Ellenborough Market Café though is their exemplary interpretation and extensive spread of Peranakan cuisines. Signature dishes would include Ayam Buah Keluak, a dish that combines chicken and nuts from the kepayang tree to create a flavorful soup, Nyonya Chap Chye, a delectable and healthy vegetable stew, Opor Babi, a tantalizing dish of pork braised in coconut milk balanced with a variety of spices and many others. Of course, there’s also Singapore’s all time favourites such as the Chilli Crab, Sambal King Prawns and Nyonya Satay Chicken.
Ellenborough Market Café’s live Kueh Dadar dessert station is also another thing to rave about as well as the Do-It-Yourself Kueh Pie Tee station that allows diners to choose preferred amount of toppings and ingredients. Oh and don’t forget to try Ellenborough’s signature dessert – the creamy, smooth and rich Durian Pengat.
Guests also have the option of dining ala carte if their stomach isn’t up for buffet consumption. Lovers of anything gourmet will delight in Ellenborough’s extensive ala carte menu that features a variety of epicurean dishes designed to satisfy diner’s tastes, as well as a wine selection from around the world.
